In 1992, the Korean Study Group of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery was founded, centering on Prof. Soo-Tae Kim and Young-Hyun Park, who were the main members of the Korean Chapter of the World Association of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery and the Asian Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery. The Korean Study Group of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery successfully hosted the 3rd Congress of Asian Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, and based on this, changed its official name to the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBPS) in 1995. The KAHBPS - successfully held the IHPBA world congress in 2014, and the A-PHPBA congress in 2019. The KAHBPS annually holds the “HBP Surgery Week”-the main conference of the association-on every March.

International Observership to Korea (IOTK) Upcoming Congress

The Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBPS) offers a 1-month International Observership Program for candidates from around the world. The KAHBPS will match the selected candidates to a supervisor at an institution of candidates’ preference (may be matched to other institution according to availability). Other benefits include a scholarship of 2,000,000 Korean Won and waiver of HBP Surgery Week registration fee.
